Wii! This Is Fun!

Blake loves to play the Wii…look at him, doesn’t he look like he’s having fun?

Yay! I love the Wii!

I know, what a mean mom I am for taking that picture…

He usually doesn’t break down while playing, but he was stuck in Super Mario Galaxy 2…and he was getting super frustrated….

So I did what any good mother would do…I put down my camera, wiped his tears away and tried to make him feel better…

Me: Blake, you’ve done so awesome so far with this game! Just relax, you’re going to beat the level…and besides-you’ve gotten way more far in this game than Mommy!  You’re doing so fantastic…

And through his sobs this was the response I got…

Blake: Mommy, of course I’m doing way better than you.  Kids are better than old people at Mario games.  And mom, you’re okay at playing the Wii, but the games you like are lame, so you won’t be as good as me here…

Wow…humble much?  I wonder where he picks up his narcissistic personality?

Oh, and for the record?  I kick some serious ass playing Harry Potter*….

*which isn’t lame, but super cool! yay! I rock!

**October is Down Syndrome Awareness Month, so go check out the post I wrote over at The Not So Secret Confessions of a Second Time Mom blabbing about Brooke…

  1. Anna Theurer says:

You captured Blake’s expressions perfectly! I like how we are “old” just because we are over the age of 12yo! I love it as all adults are “old”. We’re not old! We are in the prime of our lives. Now when we are in our 80s. . . .btw, I do not have a Wii and never played a game on Wii–you rock!

  2. OH MAN, I can remember getting super frustrated playing my original Nintendo. I was a controller thrower, and this was when controllers had cords so you could use them like whips and weapons when angry.

  3. Lori A. says:

I do not like Super Mario Galaxy games AT ALL. Too annoying and frustrating. My 8 year old gets frustrated with that game, too.
I like the Lego games…Harry Potter, Batman, Pirates of the Carribbean, etc…and Kirby’s Epic Yarn.

  4. Minivan Mama says:

That first picture and the commentary with it cracked me up!

  5. Mark says:

Maybe he’ll grow up to be an astronaut and all this training will come in handy.

  6. Love that pout, too cute. Wii is hard! I don’t do well on it at all. And I consider myself athletic!

  7. Tiffany says:

The only Wii game I’m good at is Just Dance. I kick ass at that one! These pictures are great…I’ve heard that game is really hard!

  8. Maggie S. says:

I sat at the desk laughing my head off. I love that he was so honest.

The photos are priceless. That second one…whew.

For the record, kids often cry about things that are *ahem* not of such importance…it is a good mom who helps them laugh at themselves.
