My Engagement Story or Yes, I Really Was That Awful

I prefer to show myself only in a good light…but for this story you’ll really see what an absolute spoiled rotten bitchy brat I can be…

I present to you…My Engagement Story….which is linked up to Vlog Talk this week…

*if you all are wondering why Eric would dare take the route he did, he claims he wanted me to have the worst birthday ever so that when he proposed I’d be even more excited…although halfway in he was regretting it…ha! served him right!

  1. Laura @ My Thoughts-Uninterrupted says:

I love your dramatics! Honestly I would have been you if my husband had gone this route. I fully prepared him that I would RUIN it if he didn't go about it the right way, because I'm just like that. Thankfully he took the hint and arranged it in a way I couldn't possibly mess it up! Love your story and it makes an awesome engagement story.

  2. Jenny says:

LOL…just watched this with my morning cup of coffee! Laughed my butt off!! What a miserable wench you were haha…Although if it makes you feel any better I was pretty pissed when Brad asked me to marry him one night while we were watching TV!!!!! I said no, lol…Took me years before I finally caved and said yes, thats how mad I was!!

  3. Kristin says:

    hahaha!
my hubby proposed when he was deathly ill and then got up and went home… no kiss, hug, nothin…

  4. Ange says:

Don't feel bad, Jason asked me to marry him many times over, but since I was not completely happy with his proposals I kept saying "no, not until you can ask me in a better way".

Bright side is I have a TON of engagement rings.

  5. Keenly Kristin says:

You are the best story teller. Love it!! Always funny and always honest. You're a riot!

    Kristin :)

  6. amanda says:

hahah love it! you should do video blogging lol… man that was funny.. i remember cryng a few times when i went all out for my now husband when we were dating and he barely put thought into something…

  7. Jennifer says:

    Holly you are a trip!

  8. traceyhansenwrites says:

Im the opposite. I'll be like "no, no honey I really do love this sarah palin calendar." TRUE STORY. lol

  9. Sorta Southern Single Mom says:

Oh that's totally something I would have done… I take my birthday very seriously. You don't mess with my birthday! In fact, I may have gotten huffy that my birthday was overshadowed by the engagement. Yup…I put it in writing!

  10. Michelle says:

oh goodness that is too funny! Thanks for the laugh :)

  11. Nicole B says:

I love this story! It was so funny! I'm up with the baby doing Alexa visits and just had to watch. Thanks for the laugh!

  12. Teresa says:

Awesome vlog! You are such a good story teller, that I was actually getting angry FOR you, lol!!!! I'm a bitch like that too and would have been disappointed. Now that I have kids, I would have been like "AW!" he actually bought me something!

  13. Mrs. Weber says:

HA! I thought the same thing – you are an awesome storyteller. Love that Eric's plan completely got foiled. I mean how can he not expect you to be angry and chain smoke after giving you a crappy romance novel?! Love it. Keep up the great vloggin'!

  14. Alison@Mama Wants This says:

Oh Holly. I would love to sit down with you and talk. You're exactly the kind of friend I could spend all day with, laughing and sharing stories. You are the best storyteller ever!

    Very funny ;)

  15. Jessica says:

Poor guy. I have no idea why he thought that would be a good route to take for your birthday and his proposal.

  16. Katertot says:

    Ahahahahahahahah!

    Freaking LOVE it!

I puked when My hubs proposed…doesn't make me a bitch, but doesn't exactly make me all Hot either.

  17. Paulette says:

HA! Honestly sounds like something I would've done, too. Loved you're telling of it and the utter honesty!

  18. Jendi says:

My birthday is Dec 17!!! I know 2 other people with birthdays on Dec 17.

I think that was a totally awful way for him to set up the proposal. He still could have got you flowers and said his line without all that other junk. :)

  19. Chic Homeschool Mama says:

I think at the age of 21- this behavior is totally NORMAL. I know I was that way- over something as stupid as my hubs wanted to pass out candy on Halloween out of my personal stash candy bowl & promising to replace it. We had run out & any rational adult wouldn't have worried about it. But I had the same sort of freak out- over THAT! 21 is a weird age.

I love your story- it's REAL!!! So happy I joined up today & found you!

  20. Angela says:

There is nothing wrong with the expectation of certain presents. I agree with everyone that this is a great story. I love awesome storytellers!

21–ahh yes. You have to have good expectations when it comes to the presents. But I liked Eric's response. You all sound like you have many a laugh in your household!

  21. Mom of the Twinkies and Tot! says:

OMG! I loved this! I laughed through the whole thing & love how you tell every part of it! Seriously, what kind of birthday could it be if it felt like Presidents Day of all things?!?! ahaha

  22. I Am Not Superwoman says:

Poor Eric. I bet he is happy he stuck it out though huh? You were young, cut yourself some slack. Live and Learn right? Funny story. Kinda sounds like a couple Christmas ago when my husband thought it would be a good thing to buy me some pots & pans for my Christmas gift. They were exchanged real quick!

  23. Steff says:

Well, I just got engaged last Monday, and let me tell you, it wasn't that great either! It was like 11:30 at night and we had just got done talking about being married and I was crying because I was upset it hadn't happened yet. We're kind of in a rush to have it before January because my grandparents are going on a mission then, and I have to have them there! So I was crying and saying we weren't EVER going to get married and that I was upset that he hadn't done anything about it yet, blah blah blah…and then he asked me. He said he was going to ask me on my birthday (which was Saturday) but I was too impatient! haha

I love the ending to you video, it's perfect!

  24. Galit Breen says:

OMG you are hilarious! I am absolutely DYING here!!

Spit out my coffee at "OMG Present!"

    So then there's that.

    :)

  25. amazey says:

    So awesome! Loved it.

  26. Deal Queen says:

  28. Twingle Mommy says:

I would have been just as bitchy if my husband did something like that to me…today. Forget when I was young. You see, I think my birthday is one of the most important days of the year, even though I keep turning 26.
